The paints included in this recall are batches of the Lefranc Bourgeois Acrylic Set and Lefranc Bourgeois Gouache Set.

Batch codes included in this recall end in 36C or 37C and the following barcodes are affected:

According to the recall notice, exposure to lead may cause a wide range of adverse effects, including damage to the kidneys, the circulatory system, and the developing brain.

Those most sensitive to the substance are unborn and young children.

The recall notice also makes reference to nickel, a strong sensitiser that can cause allergic reactions if present in articles that come into direct and prolonged contact with skin.

As a result, the paints do not meet the requirements of the REACH Enforcement Regulations 2008.

The affected products have been recalled from end users by Colart Ltd.

Anyone who has bought the paints has been advised to stop using the products immediately and keep them out of reach of small children.

Consumers are advised to contact the distributor for redress.
