The 40-year-old shot-stopping sensation spent his last two seasons with Portuguese club Chaves but is now on the hunt for a new challenge.

Speaking to Brazilian reporter Daniel Braune, Vozinha said: “I ended my contract with my previous club, Deportivo Chaves, and at the moment I still don’t have anything.

“I’m open to everything. Let’s see what comes up.”

Despite his age, the goalkeeper should be spoiled for choice when it comes to potential suitors.

Vozinha made his name in Cape Verde’s opener against Spain, in which he kept a clean sheet and the European champions were made to settle for a goalless draw.

He was unstoppable, even for the likes of Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams, and as a result gained a huge 1million Instagram followers.

Some credit should also be paid to Cape Verde’s defenders, one of whom is Roberto Pico Lopes, the former mortgage advisor who plays in the League of Ireland.

The star got called up to the national team via Linkedin after initially thinking the manager’s messages were spam.

Lopes, who plays for Shamrock Rovers, became a full-time professional in 2017 and made his debut for Cape Verde in 2019.
