Dola Sen, a Rajya Sabha MP of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and a close aide of former West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, has filed a complaint against the rebel group accusing it of criminal impersonation, forgery and cheating by personation in the name of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC).In her complaints submitted to the Pragati Maidan and New Town police station in Kolkata, Sen, who is also the national joint secretary of the party, alleged that unidentified persons had created and circulated forged documents and electronic communications falsely representing the AITC, amounting to cognisable offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and other applicable laws.In the complaint, Sen also accused the rebel faction of calling a meeting of the TMC councillors by using the party’s official name and symbol. In her complaint, Sen stated that on June 26, the party became aware of a “malicious and unauthorised” communication that was being widely circulated both physically and electronically while falsely claiming to have been officially issued by the All-India Trinamool Congress (AITC).According to the complaint, the fabricated notice invited all former TMC councillors of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation to attend a meeting on June 27 at Calcutta Boating and Hotel Resorts near Science City for “interaction and political discussions on the current affairs of their respective wards”.The notice was purportedly issued in the names of Javed Ahmed Khan and Sandipan Saha, identifying both as “general secretaries of the AITC”.However, Sen alleged that the communication was “a complete fabrication” and asserted that neither Khan nor Saha holds the post of general secretary in the party. She accused the individuals of dishonestly impersonating senior party office-bearers with the intention of deceiving AITC members and functionaries.Describing the incident as part of a “larger, premeditated criminal conspiracy”, the complaint alleges that the forged communication deliberately targeted former councillors to create confusion, encourage factionalism and undermine the party’s established leadership by creating an unauthorised parallel communication channel. On June 22, the Trinamool Congress rebel faction, led by Ritabrata Banerjee held a special session in Kolkata, where they constituted a national working committee. The group also removed former CM of West Bengal and founder of TMC Mamata Banerjee from the post of party chairperson and Abhishek Banerjee from the post of party national general secretary.
