THE UK’S top car brand ha been named by thousands of motorists in a recent YouGov survey.
The German automotive manufacturer has been selling cars in the UK for over seven decades, with its most popular model driving over 30,000 sales last year.

Volkswagen has been rated the top motors brand in the UK, according to a poll by YouGov.
The manufacturer earned an index score of 26.1, reinforcing its position as the UK’s leading car brand with 178,000 new vehicles sold last year.
Its beloved hatchback, the Volkswagen Golf, sold over 32,000 units in the UK last year, being the most popular model for the VW brand in the UK.
Earlier this year, VW announced a rework of its iconic Polo, joining the all-electric era with its brand-new ID model.

The new model, boasting 196 to 283 miles of range and the ability to charge between 10 and 80 per cent in 24 minutes, the ID. Polo is set to hit the market in August.
Toyota ranked second place with a score of 24 behind VW in the YouGov ranking, with the Japanese car brand being chosen as the number one choice for new car buyers.
Mercedes-Benz and Volvo followed after Toyota, with the two iconic European motor brands beating the legendary four rings of Audi.
Ford took sixth place, followed by iconic names such as BMW, Honda, Porsche and Bentley.

Index scores used to rank these cars take into account the impression, value, quality, reputation, satisfaction and recommendation metrics.
The 2026 rankings are based on nationally representative data that covers between April 1, 2024 and March 31, 2026.
Using these measurements, the historic British-founded automotive brand MG was named the most improved automotive brand for customer satisfaction.
Specialising in affordable sports-cars, the manufacturer saw the largest year-on-year increase for customer satisfaction over the year, improving by 8.5 points.
Reports from the business reveal MG have recorded sales of more than 300,000 vehicles across the UK and Europe in 2025, and one million deliveries in 2026.
