Diags, real name James Bennewith, said after he sent through the video message, he was kindly invited to party backstage at one of Ed’s concerts.
The Only Way Is Essex star said: “Ed Sheeran asked me to do a video message for his girlfriend at the time.
“So he messaged me on Twitter, I think it was, and said, could you do a birthday message for my girlfriend? So I did. I’d done a remake of one of his songs, singing Happy Birthday to her.
“He then invited me to his show at the O2.”
Host Denise Van Outen asked: “Did you go?”
Diags replied: “Yeah, he invited me backstage.”
He then confessed they were “mates” and had even shared a fist pump.
The reality star admitted there was quite the crowd backstage at Ed’s London concert including One Direction and Brooklyn Beckham.
Diags spent the night brushing shoulders with huge A-listers as he partied backstage.
He continued: “Yeah, we was backstage, there was all people in there. I think there was a couple of the One Direction lot were in there, and someone who I didn’t know it was, but at the time, I thought it was one of my brother’s friends, but it was Brooklyn Beckham.
“He was sitting next to me.”
Denise laughed and couldn’t get over how Diags had confused amateur chef Brooklyn with his brother’s pal.
“I was like, I recognize you from somewhere, but I can’t think where,” said Diags.
Denise asked if Brooklyn recognised him and he replied: “I’m going to say no.”
Diags joined the cast of ITV‘s TOWIE in 2012 for series four and is one of the show’s longest-running castmembers.
He is still heavily involved in filming and joined the cast on their recent trip to Vietnam.
