The umpire reminded Bouzas of the rules from her chair as the pair were seen having a lengthy exchange by the side of the court.

Wimbledon‘s dress code regulations state: “Competitors must be dressed in suitable tennis attire that is almost entirely white* and this applies from the point at which the player enters the court surround.

“There should be no solid mass or panel of colouring*. A single trim of colour around the neckline and around the cuff of the sleeves is acceptable but must be no wider than one centimetre (10mm).

“Colour contained within patterns will be measured as if it is a solid mass of colour and should be within the one centimetre (10mm) guide.

“Logos formed by variations of material or patterns are not acceptable.”

Bouzas admitted she was baffled about the regulations after the match as she spoke about the competition’s “strict” requirements.

He told Movistar: “A problem here is that they are very strict with many things.

“I think it was a bit of black here, and you can’t do that, so I will have to sort it out. But yes, they are very strict with things like this, so now I’ll see how I can fix it.”

After her win over Potapova, Bouzas went on to secure a nervy three-set victory over Ukrainian star Dayana Yastremska.

She will next play Jessica Pegula in the third round on Friday.
