IT was a lonely trek home for one Brazil star as he was the ONLY player aboard the team’s flight back from the World Cup.

The Brazilian FA laid on a long-haul charter flight from New Jersey, where the Selecao were stunned by Norway on Jattvibeday, back to Rio de Janeiro.

And according to reports in Brazil, the only player who caught it was Danilo.

The former Manchester City, Real Madrid and Juventus right-back was at least kept company by several staff, including members of the medical and security departments.

Leo Nannetti, who travelled with the squad as a training goalkeeper, was also on the plane.

But the only member of Carlo Ancelotti‘s fully-fledged squad to catch the official flight home was 34-year-old Danilo, who started four of Brazil‘s five matches at the tournament.

Everyone else is believed to have jetted off on holiday, either in the States or elsewhere.

Neymar took his family to Orlando, Endrick was spotted knocking about in New Jersey, and Vinicius Junior flew to Ibiza.

Ancelotti has retreated to Vancouver, where he and his Canadian wife have a house.

Many fans were calling for the Italian to be axed after Norway shattered Brazil’s World Cup bid in the last 16.

The match ended 2-1, with Erling Haaland scoring both of Norway’s goals, and the scoreline would have been even more humiliating if Neymar had not netted a penalty in the dying moments.

But Ancelotti insists he wants to stay on and spearhead the rebuild, with Brazilian football chiefs prepared to back him.
