BRITAIN’S best-selling car brand is planning to slash half of its car models in a bid to cut costs.
The German automaker has struggled with poor sales since April, falling by 8.6 per cent to just under 2.1 million vehicles.

Volkswagen will stop the production of half its models to focus on its best-selling and most profitable vehicles.
The company oversees a strong line-up of motors brands, including Audi, Bentley, Lamborghini, and Porsche, totalling at around 150 different models.

Chief executive of VW, Oliver Blume, said the reduction in car models would make the company “faster, more robust and more competitive”.
No indication or progress has reportedly been made on either plant closures, or job cuts of up to 100,000, but the company already agreed it would cut more than 35,000 by 2030.
