The investigation into the alleged murder of Jaipur resident Neeraj Sharma has taken a fresh turn, with police now examining allegations that her daughter, Ayushi Sharma, may also have played a role in the death of her father, Vijay Sharma, in 2025.Ayushi, 23, is already under arrest for allegedly masterminding the murder of her mother with the help of her cousin Balram alias Ravi, who remains absconding, and several other accused.Police are now looking into claims that Vijay Sharma’s death was not natural but part of a larger conspiracy linked to family property and a government job.Family seeks probe into Vijay Sharma’s deathThe allegations have been raised by Rakesh Sharma, Neeraj’s brother and Ayushi’s maternal uncle, who has approached both the police and a court seeking a fresh investigation into Vijay Sharma’s death.According to Rakesh, Vijay Sharma, who worked as a Court Master at the Rajasthan High Court, was recovering from a serious illness when Ayushi allegedly prevented him from receiving proper medical treatment. As reported by India Today, Rakesh alleged that Ayushi and her cousin Balram took Vijay away from home on the pretext of arranging better treatment but did not disclose his whereabouts to family members for nearly three months. He claimed Ayushi later informed relatives that Vijay had been admitted to a private hospital in Jaipur. When family members reached the hospital, doctors allegedly told them that nearly 90 per cent of his body had suffered severe damage. Vijay was later taken home, where he died.Rakesh further alleged that Ayushi and Balram conducted Vijay’s last rites in their native village and that soon afterwards Ayushi expressed her intention to seek a compassionate appointment in her father’s government job while also asking for family assets to be transferred in her name.Allegation of threat to motherIn his complaint, Rakesh also alleged that Ayushi had once threatened Neeraj during an argument, saying that if her father could be killed by removing his feeding tube, killing her would be even easier. He further claimed that Neeraj later posted a WhatsApp status indicating she had “only two days left to live.”The complaint also alleges that after Vijay suffered a brain haemorrhage in 2024, Ayushi concealed details of his treatment and kept him at an undisclosed location until he was admitted to hospital shortly before his death in April 2025.Police examining fresh allegationsDuring interrogation in the murder case, Ayushi allegedly told investigators that she had harboured resentment towards her mother for years, claiming she received less affection than her differently-abled brother.According to police, she confessed to discussing the murder plot with her cousin Balram, citing long-standing family disputes and property issues as the motive. Investigators described the final-year LLB student as legally aware and highly calculating, adding that psychologists would assist in her interrogation.Deputy Commissioner of Police Ranjita Sharma said Balram remains absconding and efforts to arrest him are continuing. She said the allegations surrounding Vijay Sharma’s death would also be examined as part of the ongoing investigation. Based on the findings, police will decide whether to add fresh charges in the existing case or register a separate FIR.Mother’s murder allegedly staged as road accidentAccording to police, Neeraj Sharma, a lower division clerk (LDC), was deliberately run over by a Scorpio SUV in Jaipur’s Pratap Nagar area on July 3 in an attempt to pass off the murder as a road accident. So far, seven people, including Ayushi Sharma, have been arrested in connection with the case, while the search for Balram alias Ravi continues. The allegations regarding Vijay Sharma’s death are currently under investigation. Police have not announced any findings linking Ayushi Sharma to that death, and the probe remains ongoing.
