The fight was the Irishman‘s first since being found civilly liable for assaulting Nikita Hand at a Dublin Hotel in December 2018, which he vehemently denied doing.
It was also his first breaking his left leg in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier in July 2021.

This time, just one minute and nine seconds into the fight, his knee went following a high kick early in the first round.
McGregor fell to the canvas several times due to the injury as his knee popped.
In the wake of the devastating injury, he repeatedly vowed to produce the “greatest” sporting comeback ever.
And he repeatedly brushed off concerns about re-injuring his left leg.
But the worst-case scenario unfolded for the UFC’s former poster boy as he snapped his limb again, which resulted in a TKO loss.
Defeat to Holloway was McGregor’s THIRD on the bounce and has extended his winless run to SIX YEARS.
