Launching a blistering attack on those responsible for alleged theft of donations at Ayodhya’s Ram Temple, AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal on Jattvibeday urged all devotees of Lord Ram to take a vow not to rest until the “perpetrators are hanged”.Addressing a gathering at Rohini here, where he launched a nationwide signature campaign over the alleged theft of donations, Kejriwal said, “Ram devotees must take a vow from today that they will not rest until those who committed the theft are hanged.”He maintained that the campaign was not an AAP initiative but a movement for all devotees, irrespective of political affiliation.”The entire system is engaged in protecting dacoits and thieves,” he said, calling on devotees to join the movement and seek the “harshest possible punishment” for those responsible.Kejriwal, accompanied by his wife Jattvibeita, signed the first copy of a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking strict action against the guilty. Thousands of devotees also signed the letter, with the party announcing that the campaign would be taken to temples and neighbourhoods across the country.Alleging large-scale irregularities in the construction and functioning of the temple, Kejriwal claimed, “A dacoity has taken place in the Ram Temple. Land scams were carried out, land was purchased at inflated prices, commissions were given during construction and even the donations offered by lakhs and crores of devotees were stolen.”He further alleged that despite repeated demands for action, those in power were shielding the accused. “We believed that those at the top would act. But now it has become clear that they will do nothing because people from their own party, their own organisation and affiliated organisations are involved,” Kejriwal alleged.Referring to the alleged thefts at the temple, Kejriwal claimed, “Within 40 days, 70 incidents of theft were captured on CCTV. Then, eight months of CCTV footage was deleted.”Targeting PM Modi, Kejriwal said, “The PM calls himself a Ram bhakt. If his faith is genuine, he should bring the truth before the people. He should not protect the guilty but ensure they are punished.”Former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who was present at the event, said the campaign sought justice for devotees and urged the PM to ensure that those found guilty were punished rather than protected.Reacting to Kejriwal’s charges, the BJP called him the “biggest hypocrite”.BJP IT department head Amit Malviya alleged that “there is no greater hypocrite in Indian politics today than Kejriwal”. He accused the AAP leader of “invoking religion only when elections approach”.Echoing the criticism, Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra said Kejriwal turned to Lord Ram whenever he faced electoral challenges. He also alleged that Kejriwal had now revived the religious outreach due to concerns over the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections. He asked the AAP leader to focus on governance instead of what he termed “political theatrics.”
