Seeking to draw wholesale trade away from Delhi’s congested markets, the Haryana Government on June 30 reached out to traders from the national capital with a proposal to set up a 5,000-acre commercial township, promising modern infrastructure, quicker approvals and dedicated business space.State’s Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini held a meeting with representatives of 26 Delhi trade associations at Haryana Bhawan, where he invited them to invest in Haryana, saying the state was creating a large commercial market and industrial ecosystem around Delhi to address the space constraints faced by traders in the Capital.Representatives from electronics, marble, dry fruits, iron and other wholesale trade associations attended the interaction and shared their suggestions with the Chief Minister. At the centre of the proposal is the planned “Namo City”, which Saini said would be developed over nearly 5,000 acres with commercial establishments and public facilities. He said the township would be planned keeping the next 50 years in view, with wide roads, modern infrastructure and green spaces to ensure smooth movement of goods and people.Pitching Haryana as an investment destination, Saini said the state would offer customised incentive packages, employment linked incentives, single-window clearances and time-bound approvals for investors. He added that traders had already begun acquiring plots in Haryana, citing around 280 plots taken by traders from the Amritsar dry fruit market and another 180 by traders from Ludhiana.”At Haryana Bhawan, New Delhi, I held a direct dialogue with the esteemed business brothers of Delhi and listened to their views and suggestions. Trade and industry are the strong foundation of the economy of any state,” Saini said in a post after the meeting.”Under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, our double-engine government is continuously working to provide a hassle-free, transparent, and investment-friendly environment for business. The suggestions of the business class will play an important role in giving new momentum to the resolve of a developed Haryana and a developed India,” he added.Saini’s media advisor, Rajeev Jaitly, speaking to The Tribune, said, “The government has been trying to help elevate businesses and ease of doing business. With respect to Delhi’s Sadar Bazar, Haryana has already prepared a full-proof plan to provide a better and enhanced ecosystem to run businesses. Given the fact that people would be relocating, there will be many benefits for them to provide ease-of-doing businesses. The Chief Minister is very actively monitoring the work progress on the same.”Top Haryana government officials, aware of the matter, say Sonepat district is pitched as the feasible location. Rai, Ganaur, and Kharkhoda form the backbone of the Sonepat industrial corridor, each serving as a specialised economic engine backed by major infrastructure anchors.Saini also assured traders that the government would address their concerns and said his office would remain open for further discussions. Representatives from the iron market, marble trade and other business groups raised issues during the interaction.Industries Minister Rao Narbir Singh said Haryana was developing dedicated industrial clusters to provide better facilities for businesses looking to expand. He cited the state’s road connectivity, law and order situation and the presence of 14 NCR districts as factors that make Haryana an attractive destination for investment.
