Actor Anupam Kher remembered “Jurassic Park” star and an “extraordinary artist” Sam Neill in a heartfelt post on social media and said he followed and admired his “remarkable career” for years.Neill died on Monday in Sydney. He was 78.Kher shared a picture on his Instagram handle on Monday alongside the actor and recalled meeting him in Australia. “DEEPLY SADDENED by the passing of the wonderful #SamNeill . I had the privilege of meeting him in Sydney, Australia, and what stayed with me was not merely the celebrated actor, but the warm, gracious and gentle human being behind that familiar face,” Kher wrote in the post.The actor said Neill “brought intelligence, dignity and a rare quiet strength to every character he portrayed”. “I had followed and admired his remarkable career for decades. From ‘My Brilliant Career’ and ‘The Piano’ to ‘Jurassic Park’, ‘The Hunt for Red October’ and so many other memorable performances… Some actors impress you with their performances.”“Some human beings touch you with their presence. Sam Neill did both. The world of cinema has lost an extraordinary artist, and the world has lost a wonderful gentleman. Rest in peace, dear Sam. Your work and your warmth will live on,” he said.The news of Neill’s death was shared by his family in a statement on social media, which said his death was “sudden and unexpected”.In 2023, Neill disclosed he had been diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. His family’s statement said he “remained cancer-free” when he died and didn’t specify a cause of death.His last work is “Untamed”, which released in 2025.
