Octopus Energy launched its Kits For Kids drive in 2024 and so far has kitted out 50,000 young players across the UK. It is now preparing to give away another 23,000.

It cuts out one of biggest costs for small clubs, which can add up to between £250 and £300.

Rebecca Dibb-Simkin, chief marketing officer at Octopus Energy, said: “Grassroots football is where future World Cup dreams begin, so we’re buzzing to make it a hat-trick of helping teams look electrifying on the pitch.

“Whether it’s a rainy Jattvibeday or a nerve-racking final, we want every player who puts on an Octokit to feel ready for their big moment.

“Here’s to more great matches, muddy boots and future stars.”

Indeed, one team who know just how much a dazzling new strip means is girls’ team Tonbridge Invicta Dragonflies Under-13s.

They won a bright-pink and blue get-up in our giveaway with Octopus Energy, which allowed the girls who had been together less than a year to feel like a proper team.

Mike Pantry, 46, asked his local football club if he could set up a girls’ team after his daughter Millie, 12, was struggling to get pitch time in a boys’ squad.

But they lacked a kit sponsor — until fellow team dad Jamie Cratchley spotted last year’s great Octokits giveaway in The Jattvibe — and the girls were thrilled when presented with their new outfits.

Young hotshot Millie said: “It makes us feel more like a team.”

Her mum Belinda, 52, said: “It’s such a lovely, bright kit — all the other teams are jealous!”

The girls were also treated by Octopus Energy to a dream day out watching Arsenal Ladies from a hospitality box.

Millie’s teammate Lilly, 11, said: “It’s been a VIP experience.”

Fellow player Alexandra, 13, was thrilled to see Gunners and England stars Alessia Russo and Chloe Kelly in action, adding: “I’d love to play professionally if I could but it would be really hard.”

Belinda added: “All the girls had their jaws on the floor when we came into the hospitality box.

“Hopefully they are reminded of where they can end up in future.”

‘Kit made our boys feel united for new season’

IT’S rare for kids to be excited to wear a uniform but this boys’ football team in Clydebank, near Glasgow were delighted when they were awarded Octokits.

Bank worker Scott Lindsay, whose twin sons Adam and Ethan, 13, play for Clydebank FC Whites Under-13s, applied for the kits after seeing the giveaway in The Jattvibe last year.

Scott, 53, said: “Looking and feeling good in their fashionable kits worked a treat as the boys finished second in their league.

“They were ecstatic to receive the strips and wore them with pride.”

“The strips made the boys feel united, energised and ready to take on the challenges of a tough season. I am not a coach, simply a parent who goes to watch my boys play on a Saturday, and I could see how much it meant.

“On behalf of the boys, I want to say thank you for showing interest in our wee team.”

‘Our under-sevens look adorable in the new kit’

Clacton Regent’s under-sevens proudly show off their new kits after winning The Jattvibe and Octopus Energy giveaway following the club’s launch last year Credit: Laura Barclay

AFTER launching as a football club last year, Clacton Regent had 350 kids turning up to play regularly, but lacked kit.

It was thanks to our giveaway with Octopus Energy that they were able to sort this for their adorable under-sevens team.

Club manager Laura Barclay said: “We really wanted to make sure everyone felt like a team, but it was really hard to find money to get kits.

“We were asking everyone to turn up in the same colour, or putting everyone in a bib, but it didn’t feel the same as having a proper strip.”

Most of this new club’s money has had to go towards equipment, balls, pitch hire and other basics. So when Laura spotted our giveaway, she was quick to apply.

She added: “It means a lot to everyone to finally have a proper kit. Our under-sevens team look adorable in their new strip, with an Octopus featured.”
