Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi will inaugurate four redeveloped railway stations in Punjab under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme on July 17 at around 3 pm, Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon said on Tuesday.Dhillon said as per the official programme, the PM would physically inaugurate the redeveloped Jalandhar Cantonment railway station, while virtually dedicating to the nation the redeveloped stations at SAS Nagar (Mohali), Sri Muktsar Sahib and Sri Anandpur Sahib.Calling it a landmark moment for the state’s railway infrastructure, Dhillon said the four stations had been transformed into modern, passenger-friendly transport hubs while retaining their local heritage and architectural identity. The redevelopment includes upgraded platforms, larger concourses, modern waiting areas, lifts, escalators and improved accessibility for commuters, he said.Dhillon said the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme was part of the Centre’s broader push to redevelop railway stations across the country into modern gateways for connectivity, trade and tourism. He credited the Prime Minister’s leadership for the pace of infrastructure development in the country over the past decade, citing investments in highways, airports, metro networks, logistics corridors, ports and digital connectivity. The inauguration of the four stations, Dhillon said, reflected the Central government’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure in Punjab and providing world-class public facilities to the people of the state. He said the BJP-led Centre remained committed to the holistic development of Punjab through continued investment in rail, road and other infrastructure projects.
