The Tate brothers’ lawyer Joe McBride slammed the arrests and claimed the duo were victims of a “political witch-hunt”.

He called on Trump to intervene and told reporters outside court that “he was elected to fight against this kind of nonsense”.

Andrew has previously said: “I’m very close with the Trump family. I know them well.”

The brothers had allegedly contacted people close to the president after they were detained – but the White House on Tuesday confirmed they would not step in.

A US Official told The Telegraph: “The White House has no involvement and no feelings on the issue.”

Andrew Tate has previously boasted of his high-powered connections in the US government – claiming that he befriended Trump’s son Barron in July 2024 after an assassination attempt on the president.

And the Financial Times reported that one of Trump’s top envoys had helped him and his brother flee Romania after their arrest last year.

When asked about this bombshell claim, Trump said: “I know nothing about that.”

The brothers, who are dual British-US citizens, face a total of 59 charges in the UK, according to Bedfordshire Police.

The allegations date from between 2010 and 2017 and include rape and sex trafficking.

Andrew faces 32 new charges, including seven relating to rape and 19 involving extreme pornography and indecent images of children.

Tristan, 38, faces six more, including two rape and sex-trafficking charges.

According to unsealed documents, Andrew allegedly repeatedly choked one woman until she passed out and then raped her at her home in Bedford in 2015.

Another woman alleged Andrew visited her Manchester home before choking her to the point that “she was afraid Tate was going to kill her”.

The complaint also alleged that Tristan regularly choked, beat and raped a woman that he was in a romantic relationship in 2012 and 2013.

Both brothers, who are dual US-British citizens, have repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.

The Tates were born in the US before moving to Luton as children.

They are now based in Romania, where they were first arrested in 2022.
