Bundesliga star Kevin Kampl has swapped football for fruit and veg … by becoming a MARKET GARDENER.

The midfielder won two German FA Cups with RB Leipzig, and also played for Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund.

But Slovenia international Kampl hung up his boots earlier this year after his father and brother died within seven months of one another.

The 35-year-old has now retired to a farm on Majorca, where he and his family grow a variety of crops.

Kampl said: “We have honeydew melons, watermelons, tomatoes, onions, peppers, and plenty more.

“They all grow like crazy here.  The olive oil we make here tastes delicious.

“I have had a pretty s*** year – there is no other word for it.

“I will also be in the city a lot, so who knows what the future might bring.”

German-born Kampl won 28 Slovenia caps, scoring two goals.

But he was labelled a deserter by his national teammates when pulling out of a World Cup qualifier against England in October 2016.

Kampl previously won an Austrian league and cup double with RB Salzburg in 2014.
