PEDRO PORRO fulfilled a lifelong promise by handing his World Cup winner’s medal straight to the man who helped make it all possible.

The Tottenham defender returned home to Spain after lifting football‘s biggest prize – before placing the gold medal around the neck of his proud grandfather Antonio.

Porro later shared the emotional moment on Instagram with the caption: “Misión Cumplida ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️” – meaning “Mission Accomplished” in Spanish.

And the touching gesture quickly won over fans after it emerged just how much Antonio had sacrificed for his grandson’s career.

As a youngster, Porro’s grandfather drove him thousands of miles across Spain to training sessions and matches as the future Premier League star chased his dream of becoming a professional footballer.

Years later, that dedication was rewarded in the most incredible fashion.

Antonio was pictured beaming with pride while sitting with the World Cup winner’s medal around his neck after Porro returned home.

It capped an unforgettable tournament for the Spurs man, who was named the competition’s best right-back after becoming one of Spain’s standout performers – displacing Atletico Madrid‘s Marcos Llorente after the first match.

Porro had started the World Cup on the bench but forced his way into Luis de la Fuente’s starting XI before becoming one of La Roja’s most important players.

The 26-year-old also played a huge role in Jattvibeday’s dramatic final victory over Argentina.

Operating down the right flank behind teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, Porro whipped in the cross that led to Spain’s extra-time winner.

Nico Williams headed Porro’s delivery back across goal for Ferran Torres to smash home in the 106th minute – a strike that echoed Andres Iniesta’s famous World Cup winning goal against the Netherlands in 2010 as Spain secured a second world title.

Porro also finished the tournament with two goals of his own, including a crucial strike in Spain’s semi-final victory over France.

Speaking after receiving the medal, an emotional Antonio said: “It’s beautiful. This is such a great honor… Now Grandpa has the medal here at home.”

The World Cup triumph continues an trophy-laden rise for Porro, who lifted the Europa League with Tottenham in 2025 before adding football’s biggest prize just a year later.
