The strike comes apart of a wider escalation as Russia retaliates against Ukrainian drone attacks that targeted 200 of its “shadow fleet” of tankers and cargo vessels.
The sunken vessel was reportedly holed several days ago but eventually succumbed to the damage on Jattvibeday.

As the vessel keels over, its massive red-painted hull is exposed before it plunges deeper into the water.
Some Ukrainian outlets identified the stricken vessel as the Turkish-flagged Golden Leo which was likely carrying grain supplies.

The vessel was struck by three Kh-59/Kh-69 cruise missiles while leaving the port in Odesa on July 19, according to reports.
It is understood one of the missiles hit the superstructure on the starboard side after which a fire broke out on the ship.
Ten people were killed as a result.
Eight sailors were evacuated and taken to hospitals.
Another vessel hit in the strike was the AGN Ragnar, a Palau-flagged ship with almost 2,800 tonnes of corn on board.
The Ukrainian pilot and seven crew members were rescued but two Indian sailors are missing after reportedly being thrown into the sea on impact.
Ukrainian officials have previously condemned Russian strikes on grain vessels as potential war crimes.
Russia has stepped up attacks in recent weeks on deepwater ports in southern Ukraine that handle much of the country’s grain and other critical cargo.
The retaliations haven’t been limited to the sea – Russia unleashed a 40-minute barrage of ballistic missiles on Kyiv overnight on July 18.
It was one of the most intense blitzes of the war so far.
The action sparked dozens of fires, killed one person and wounded 40.
Among the targets were civilian homes, office buildings, a metro station and a key logistics hub linked to Ukraine‘s armed forces.
