MORE than four million people are now claiming disability benefits as ministers prepare a major overhaul of the welfare system.
Shocking new figures show the number of people receiving Personal Independence Payment (PIP) has doubled since 2019.
Analysis found more than two thirds of teenagers receiving the maximum £194 a week are claiming for mental health conditions.
The numbers have fuelled calls for reform after a Government review concluded the benefits system is “no longer fit for purpose”.
