NICK ALDIS shocked the world with the performance of the night at SummerSlam.
The SmackDown general manager, who walked out for his match to Oasis‘ Morning Glory, was goaded into facing Gunther at WWE‘s second biggest show of the year and he did not disappoint.

Performing for the first time in three years, the Brit showed all the credentials that made him a former TNA and NWA world champion.
Aldis was supported by his wife – WWE legend Mickie James – and his son at ringside in Minnesota.

Chants of “You’ve still got it” rang out around the U.S Bank Stadium and Aldis delved deep into his arsenal to earn every decibel.
The proverbial roof came off the stadium once Aldis locked in the Texas Cloverleaf submission, but Gunther would work his way to the ropes and just about escape.

The pair then traded sleeper submissions before Gunther sat in his patented sleeper to clinch the win.
Aldis soaked in the applause inside the ring once Gunther had departed with James and his son joining him for a well-earned ovation.
Of course, there is no shame losing to Gunther. This is the man that has retired John Cena, Goldberg and AJ Styles all in the past year.
Is this the last time we will see Aldis wrestle in a WWE ring? We highly doubt it.
The 39-year-old – which is the prime years to be a WWE wrestler these days – certainly left fans wanting to see much more of him.

When he wrestled as Magnus in TNA many moons ago, many tipped him to go on and be a big name in this industry.
But like Adam Pearce, he seemingly left his in-ring career behind to join the WWE machine and work as an on-screen personality and producer backstage.
