Suspended Congress leader Madan Lal Jalalpur on Monday launched a no-holds-barred attack on state party chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, calling him an “incapable leader” and alleging that he orchestrated his suspension from the party.He also termed former CM Charanjit Singh Channi a “common people’s man”, asserting that he was more suited to lead the party in the state. The remarks came two days after the Congress suspended the former MLA for anti-party activities.Jalalpur had got the backing of Channi, who had assured him that he would take up the matter with the party high command. Talking to The Tribune, Jalalpur called Warring the “actual conspirator” behind his suspension.“Warring is an incapable leader and Channi is far more suitable for the Congress president’s post,” he said.   Jalalpur also clarified that he would remain a “Congress sepoy”. “The Congress flag is still atop my house and will remain there. I had joined the Congress in the presence of Sonia Gandhi and will continue to serve the party,” he said.Jalalpur said he never uttered a word against AICC general secretary in-charge for Punjab Bhupesh Baghel or the party high command as being claimed by his detractors.“Warring is playing his tricks and is a compromised president. He has done more harm to the Congress from within the party than any rival party,” he said.He also sought the scrutiny of Warring’s role, a day after slain Punjabi singer Sidhu’s Moosewala’s father questioned his style of working in an emotional address at a Congress event in Mansa.“Moosewala never wanted to join active politics, but was baited to contest the polls so that someone could use his popularity for personal gains. Even when his murder took place, all Congress leaders reached there and demanded that the cremation be held only after the accused’s arrest. However, people should know that there was only one leader who pressed the family for the cremation without any demand being fulfilled by the AAP government,” he said.Jalalpur also compared Channi with the likes of former CM Parkash Singh Badal, who he said was always considered a “common people’s leader” and known for his simplicity. “It is only because of Channi’s down-to-earth image that the average Congress worker and a majority of state leaders back him,” he said.
