Prof Yadwinder Singh Brar, Dean Academic and Head of the Electrical Engineering Department at I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU), has taken charge as the 20th Vice-Chancellor (officiating) of the university.He assumed office after the completion of the tenure of regular Vice-Chancellor Dr Susheel Mittal. The Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training, Government of Punjab, issued the order appointing Prof Brar to the post.Prof Brar thanked Punjab Governor-cum-University Chancellor Gulab Chand Kataria, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Technical Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, University Board Chairman Anoop Bector and other dignitaries for entrusting him with the responsibility.A native of Moga district, Prof Brar completed his Electrical Engineering from Panjab University, Chandigarh. He has over 34 years of experience in teaching, research and administration, having served as faculty at Giani Zail Singh College of Engineering and Technology, Bathinda, and Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana. He has more than 200 research papers to his credit.A ceremony was organised at the Vice-Chancellor Secretariat on his assuming charge, with prayers for the university’s progress, students’ academic success and the welfare of employees. Members of the University Officers Association and Employees Association welcomed him on the occasion.University Registrar Dr Navdeepak Sandhu, Dean R&D Dr Parveen Bansal, Dean Student Welfare Dr Satbir Singh, Controller Examinations Dr Paramjit Singh, Finance Officer Dr Sukhbir Walia, along with other officers, faculty members, staff and students, were present during the joining ceremony.
