A TOP swimmer has revealed that she turned down a Love Island offer before the Commonwealth Games.
The star athlete admitted that she is a huge fan of the ITV2 dating show and has dropped a hint that she will enter the villa in the future.

Katie Shanahan, 22, bagged a silver medal at this year’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in the 200m backstroke.
The Scottish swimmer has now revealed that her and fellow athlete Abbie Wood were offered the opportunity to appear on last year’s season of Love Island.

Katie confessed that even though she was ‘tempted’ by the offer for her, swimming had to come first.
Speaking with BBC, she said: “I’m the biggest Love Island fan ever, I’ve watched every season.”

“Last year the producers asked me and Abbie Wood (English swimmer)if we would be interested in doing it.
“I couldn’t go on though, because of focusing on the swimming, but who knows in the future? I was a bit tempted but the swimming had to come first.”
Katie wouldn’t be the first athlete to appear on the show with many sportspersons entering through the villa doors.
The Maya Jama-hosted reality TV show has seen the likes of footballers, Tyrique Hyde and Scott Van-der-Sluis appear as well as boxer Tommy Fury.
Northern Ireland boxers Jon McConnell and Kaci Rock revealed that they progressed through initial auditions.
However, they had to drop out to focus on their sport.

Katie herself proved that focusing on sport was the right call won silver in the women’s 200m breaststroke on the opening night in Tollcross International Swimming Centre.
The emotional swimmer was seen fighting back tears while on the podium after securing the medal.
Katie hopes that future generations are inspired by her performance, just like she was when watching Hannah Miley at the 2014 Games.
She added: “I’ve always said that if I can inspire the next generation of athletes coming through, then my job has been done.
“I know after 2014 watching Hannah I felt inspired, and it would be nice to think that maybe there’s some younger girls watching the 200m backstroke this time, and maybe they’ll get into swimming from it.”
