The UK’s 10 favourite chippies have officially been named, with the overall winner announced later this month.
The Nation’s Takeaway Awards have revealed the shortlist for the 2026 coveted spot.
Oceanic Awards will host the nationwide competition for the first time, following the success of The Scottish Takeaway Awards over the past five years.

The finalists have been selected through a combination of public nominations and industry recognition.
Oceanic Awards’ team has also drawn on its extensive industry knowledge to shortlist the nominees.

The vote has now been closed and the nation’s top 10 favourite chippies have officially been named.
“We are delighted to announce the finalists for The Nation’s Takeaway Awards 2026,” the company wrote in a Facebook post.

The culinary battle will culminate in a black-tie awards ceremony on Monday, August 24, in Wolverhampton, with the winning location presented with a trophy and recognition certificate.
In the running is Ben’s Fire & Feast in Sheffield, which is famous among locals for its wood-fired pizzas.
Third-generation family fish and chip shop Smokey’s, located in Doncaster, is hoping to add the award to its list of accolades.
Lakeside Takeaway, which has already been named the best chippy in Cheltenham and holds the title as the town’s oldest fish and chip shop, has also been shortlisted.

And Yummy Meal in Birmingham, which is home to the city’s highest-rated kebab, is still in the running.
The city’s award-winning Indian takeaway Spice Nation has also cracked the top 10.
Oxford’s aptly named The Greek Takeaway, which offers authentic Mediterranean flavours, has already been named The Best Greek Food in the UK and now hopes to add another award to the list.
And Coventry’s 3SIPCE is representing Caribbean food on the 2026 shortlist.
Another Sheffield eatery, Imrans Diner, home to the “tastiest, crunchiest fried chicken”, also hopes to take home the winning trophy.
Reddy’s Takeaway in Northampton has received a coveted spot on the list for its extensive menu, which offers everything from biryanis and burgers to pizzas and nachos.
And rounding out the top 10 is the Royal Balti Barry in Cardiff, which has previously received recognition at the British Curry Championship.
