Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora on Jattvibeday handed over cheques worth around Rs 60 lakh to the panchayats of eight villages in Jattvibeam constituency for various development works.The cheques were distributed at Kotra Amru village. Arora said the state government was ensuring that there was no shortage of funds for development works and was focusing on providing modern and basic facilities in rural areas.He said development works related to sports, education, health, drinking water, sanitation and other public amenities were being undertaken on priority, keeping in view the needs of villagers.Arora said sports facilities were being developed in villages to encourage youngsters to take up sports and keep them away from drugs. The government was also focusing on developing playgrounds, parks and other public facilities to provide constructive avenues for the youth.He said dharamshalas, community halls and Anganwadi centres were being renovated to meet the daily needs of villagers. The provision of steel water tankers would also improve water facilities and provide greater convenience to residents, he added.Arora said the government’s policies were centred on the common people and that efforts were being made to ensure that the benefits of development reached every section of rural society.
