Heavy rain has severely disrupted road connectivity in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district, with more than 120 roads blocked at several locations, officials said on Tuesday.The disruption has affected traffic movement between Mandi and Kullu as well as other parts of the district.The Mandi-Kullu stretch of the Kiratpur-Manali Highway via Pandoh has been blocked to traffic following shooting stones at Jhalogi. Authorities said traffic movement will be regulated once the situation normalises and the road is considered safe for commuters.Related news: Himchal weather update: 259 roads closed; heavy rains likely in 5 districtsThe alternative Mandi-Kullu route via Kataula is also currently blocked due to a landslide near Kandi, leaving commuters with limited options for travelling between the two districts.Meanwhile, the Mandi-Pathankot Highway has been blocked near Urla after a landslide. Restoration work is underway at the affected location, and the road is expected to be reopened shortly, subject to improvement in ground conditions.The widespread disruption has been attributed to continuous and heavy rain in the region, which has triggered landslides, shooting stones and other incidents along key road corridors.The Public Works Department (PWD) and National Highway authorities are working to clear debris and restore connectivity at the affected locations. However, challenging weather conditions are making restoration operations difficult.Authorities have advised commuters to exercise caution, avoid unnecessary travel on affected routes and check road conditions before starting their journey.
