CORONATION Street’s Alison King has revealed her secret health battle that left her ‘struggling to breathe’.
In a video shared on TikTok, the Carla Connor actress detailed what she’s been dealing with behind the scenes.

“At the beginning of the year, my nervous system seemed to need rebalancing,” she explained in the video.
She went on to say: “I lost my mum last year, last August.

“And then at the beginning of this year, I got a chest infection from two of the gorgeous little babies at work.
“Actually, when we were filming the wedding, I had been coughing and coughing and coughing…

“My right lung was hurting, my chest was hurting anyway, it was sick of the coughing, it was inflamed,” she explained.
Alison then said that a large cough while on set made her feel like she tore the intercostal muscle in her chest.
She went on to recall that she couldn’t even exercise due to her illness, and that she had gotten depressed because she had gained weight.
“Because of my nervous system and not doing anything, I was really struggling to breathe a full breath,” she said.
“I couldn’t swim, which I do all the time because that’s my therapy.
“I couldn’t do anything.”
She said that ever since struggling with this chest infection, she has experienced a twitch in her eye.
And as a result of everything, it has caused her nervous system to feel dysregulated.
Alison then assured fans that she is feeling “good and happy”.
She then underwent reflexology and Reiki in the video to help with her symptoms.
Alison has played the role of Carla in Coronation Street for around 17 years.
She debuted on the cobbles on December 1, 2006.
She then left for a brief break between 2016 and 2017, and has continued her prominent role on the famous street ever since.
Alison’s biggest Corrie storyline this year has been her on-screen romance with Lisa Swain.
