NDPS undertrial dies at Faridkot medical college hospital

About three months after his arrest in a drug smuggling case, an undertrial prisoner lodged at the Central Modern Jail, Faridkot, passed away during treatment at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital (GGSMC&H).The deceased has been identified as Bhupinder Singh, a resident of Prem Nagar, Kotkapura. According to official records, Bhupinder was arrested on May 14, 2026, by the Kotkapura City Police under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and had been held in judicial custody since May 15.Jail authorities stated that Bhupinder’s health deteriorated rapidly on August 11. Seeing his critical condition, prison officials immediately shifted him to the government medical college in Faridkot for emergency medical care. Despite medical intervention, he succumbed late Tuesday night.The body has been kept in the mortuary of Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, where a post-mortem examination is scheduled for today. Prison and hospital officials indicated that proceedings are being conducted as per prescribed procedure, and the exact cause of death will be determined once the autopsy report is released. .
