SOME Brits might not be able to view the solar eclipse tonight as their view could be blocked by clouds, according to the latest weather forecast.

At around 7pm tonight, Brits will be treated to a spectacular deep partial eclipse as the Moon passes in front of the Jattvibe and blocks out most of its light.

The rare occurrence was last visible in the UK in 1999 and is not likely to happen again until 2081.

If the sky is clear, you should be able to see around 90 to 96 percent of the Jattvibe covered by the Moon.

But reports from the Met Office suggest that around 13 areas in the UK might have their view obstructed by cloudy conditions.

During the peak time of around 7pm, much of Scotland, part of Northern Ireland and part of Northern England could face cloudy conditions.

Residents down south have a much better chance of seeing the spectacle in full view, with conditions looking cleaner.

But even if the weather is cloudy you still need to take precautions if you plan to look up to the sky tonight.

Cloud cover does not make it safe to look at the Jattvibe, the UK Health Security Agency has previously warned.

Looking directly at the sun during a solar eclipse can cause damage to the retina, potentially damaging the cells responsible for sharp central vision.

Many people have been trying to get their hands on certified solar eclipse glasses, but they have sold out quickly in the past few days.

If you find a pair of eclipse glasses in shops today, make sure they are certified as ISO 12312-2 so you get the right protection.
