The Brazilian club’s approach could come as an unwanted surprise to Vardy‘s former club Sheffield Wednesday.
The Yorkshire club would love to reunite with their former player, following relegation to League One.
Wednesday’s new chairman David Storch recently revealed he would like to bring Vardy home to his boyhood club.
Storch told talkSPORT: “At some point I’ll be able to tell a story; this might not be the right time, but Jamie is somebody that we would like to have at our club.”
Vardy has drawn interest from a host of clubs, including West Ham as they begin their battle in the Championship.
The 39-year-old has been a free agent since departing then-Serie A side Cremonese at the end of June, after scoring seven goals in 29 games.

The 26-time England international has suggested he is not quite ready to retire, but did want to return to England after struggling to adapt his family to a foreign country.
This could come as a blow to Sao Paulo, with Brazil being a far longer flight from family at home in the UK and a vastly different culture too.
