ARSENAL legend Patrick Vieira is back in management after landing the Senegal job
Vieira, 50, has been out of the game since he was sacked by Italian outfit Genoa in November.

Senegal axed Pape Thiaw after his side were eliminated from the World Cup in the Round of 32.
The Africans were 2-0 up against Belgium with 10 minutes to go before going on to lose 3-2 after extra-time.

Thiaw also saw his 2025 AFCON title stripped from Senegal after the players left the pitch because of a refereeing decision against Morocco in the final.
Senegal won 1-0 on the night in extra time but an investigation into what happened saw the title handed to Morocco.

During Vieira‘s playing career, he represented France, winning both the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000.
However, he was born in Senegal.

Vieira has previously managed Crystal Palace, Nice, Strasbourg, New York City and Genoa, but this is his first international job.
Senegal are set to begin their qualifiers for AFCON 2027 with Mozambique being their first game on September 23.
The Lions of Teranga have been drawn into qualifying group J alongside Mozambique, Sudan and Ethiopia.
An official statement by Senegal’s X account read: “Mr Patrick Vieira is the new coach of the Senegalese national A team.
“The date of the official presentation and the next steps in his installation will be the subject of a subsequent announcement.
“Welcome to Senegal, Coach.”
