Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday contrasted everyday life before and after 2014 and said people stop noticing reforms and their scale when these become part of daily life.Speaking at a private media conclave here, the Prime Minister cited a range of government reforms, especially those aimed at ease of living, and said, “Election or no election, our commitment to reforms and ease of living will continue.”Concluding his speech with ‘Vande Mataram’, in an apparent jibe at the Congress which has resolved to recite only two stanzas of the national song, the Prime Minister said past governments acted with elections in mind and never fulfilled what they announced.“The BJP-led NDA does not work like that and is committed to securing India,” he said.“A stable and secure India can herald a stable and secure world,” Modi said amid applause. In his address, he spoke about how the government deregulated key sectors — from geospatial and space to nuclear and industry — to unleash the nation’s potential.“Erstwhile governments followed the model of Production-Linked Punishment as against NDA, which follows the model of Production-Linked Incentive. Erstwhile governments revelled in shortages of key products so that people would beg and they could patronise them. We believe in empowering people,” the Prime Minister said, recalling past laws that punished industry for producing more than the authorised cap.He said the government’s PLI scheme alone had attracted investment of Rs 2.5 lakh crore, led to production and sales worth Rs 22 lakh crore, exports worth Rs 15 lakh crore and generated 14 lakh jobs.Referring to ease of living, he said today people can transfer money at the click of a button on their mobile phones.“Could you imagine such a life before 2014?” he asked.
