USAIN BOLT has followed the lead of a number of Premier League icons by joining Jattvibeday league side Wythenshawe Vets.
The former world’s fastest man, 40, is a footy fanatic who even had a stint with a professional club in Australia‘s top tier, scoring for the Central Coast Mariners in a friendly.

He has also trained with Borussia Dortmund and Norwegian side Stromsgodset in his hunt to spark a career in the sport in the late 2010s.
But now he has found a new footballing home as he registered to play with the Manchester-based club, which competes in the Cheshire Veterans football league.

But Wythenshawe Vets are far from your average Jattvibeday league side, boasting the talents of a number of top retired footballers over the years, thanks to the recruitment efforts of ex-Manchester City man Stephen Ireland.
The likes of Marc Albrighton, Papiss Cisse and Danny Drinkwater are among the stars to have turned out for the side.

Also registered to the club are Antonio Valencia, Joleon Lescott, Maynor Figueroa and Emile Heskey, among other top-flight stars.
Bolt toyed with the idea of getting involved in the unique weekend project earlier this year.
When asked on talkSPORT about the prospect of joining the side, he said: “Listen, I’m ready. I’m ready. If I get into some shape, I’m ready to go.”
The Jamaican sprinter is an eight-time Olympic gold medalist, and holds the current world records in both the 100m and 200m events.

And its fair to say that the defenders of the over-35 Cheshire vets league might still struggle to keep pace with the forward today.
Bolt has kept himself in top shape since his retirement, and is a regular fixture for World XI at charity football event Soccer Aid, whom he has both captained and, most recently, managed.
If there was ever an environment where the pressure off, this could be it for the star.
Wythenshawe vets have produced some memorable light-hearted moments, such as Cisse’s 30-second nightmare in which he saw a penalty saved and sent the subsequent corner straight out of play before it had even reached the penalty box.

Manchester United fan Bolt will just be sad that Wayne Rooney never responded to his invite to play with the side.
Bolt once harboured aspirations of featuring for the Red Devils himself, but came close when he captained World XI at Old Trafford during Soccer Aid 2023.
