But the 52-year-old was later pronounced dead.

His next of kin have been informed.

The second victim has since been discharged from hospital.

A 21-year-old British man was arrested shortly afterwards and remains in custody as detectives probe the horror.

Cops are not looking for anyone else in connection with the attack.

Large parts of the harbour remain cordoned off, including Harbour Street and sections of the seafront near the Royal Victoria Pavilion Wetherspoon pub.

Forensics officers have been scouring the scene, with investigators seen working inside the cordon on Harbour Street.

A taxi believed to be linked to the incident is also being examined after it crashed onto concrete bollards on the pavement near the seafront, Kent Online reports.

A forensic officer was seen photographing the cab as the investigation continued this morning.

Pictures from the scene show the taxi partially mounted on the bollards, with police tape surrounding the area.

Several businesses in Harbour Street, including the Silver Compass Sports Bar, have been unable to open.

Kent Police said inquiries into the circumstances of the stabbing are continuing.

Extra patrols will also be carried out across Ramsgate today.

Anybody with information is asked to contact Kent Police, quoting reference 46/139262/26.
