The company has said the decision to release the new product comes as consumer tastes have started to shift over the last year.
In the previous 12 months, online searches for dark chocolate has surpassed those for milk and white chocolate.
The company has remarked that this shift, in part, is driven by the desire for lower sugar options, with 70 per cent of the UK saying they view dark chocolate as a healthier choice.
Lindt Master Chocolatier, Miquetta de Castro, said: “As consumers continue to seek out premium dark chocolate, we’re excited to introduce our EXCELLENCE 100% Cocoa Dark Chocolate Bar to the UK market for the first time.
“Uniting high-quality cocoa with our knowledge in dark chocolate craftsmanship, this bar delivers a richer and bolder chocolate taste, ideal for a treat or even for use in cooking and baking at home.”
In addition to the new bar, Lindt continues to sell lower percentage dark chocolate bars at the majority of supermarkets.
This includes 100g bars for £3.50 starting at 70 per cent and going to 78 per cent, 85 per cent and 90 per cent.
