DOZENS of locations are set to be battered with torrential rain and thunderstorms tomorrow and Thursday after prolonged periods of drought.
The impacted areas may experience public transport delays and cancellations, as well as potential road closures and flooding.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms in 58 locations on Wednesday and 56 locations on Thursday.
Heavy downpours are forecast across a number of major cities, including Greater London, Manchester and Birmingham.

Weather warnings officially come into force from 3am tomorrow morning, with rainfall focussed on the East and North West of England and the Midlands, with yellow alerts continuing until 10pm.
The Met Office has warned of a small risk of flooding and disruptions from thunderstorms tomorrow, but some of the worst hit areas could be hit by 1.5 to 1.9 inches of rain in just two to three hours.

Thunderstorms & heavy rain set to batter UK as yellow weather warnings issued
Moving into Thursday, another yellow weather alert comes into effect, with thunderstorms and heavy rain said to lead to some disruptions.
Thunderstorms could begin from 6am on Thursday, with the downpours hitting the West of England and larger parts of Wales, with conditions expected to settle by 10pm.

During Thursday’s thunderstorms, the Met Office says there is a small chance that homes and businesses could flood quickly.
The forecaster has further warned that there is a “small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life”.
This inclement weather comes as nearly three-quarters of England and the entirety of Wales face drought as a result of prolonged dry conditions, with 45million Brits affected.
As water levels dwindle, nine water companies have introduced hosepipe bans for at least 27 million customers across England and Wales.

One week ago, Wessex Water introduced restrictions after 50 years for its 1.4million customers across Bath, Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire in the hopes of combatting increased water demand.
Rainy conditions are expected to settle in time for Bank Holiday weekend, but some forecasts have predicted another heatwave in September.
