“I was drinking Vodka every night. I went off that. I didn’t want it at all. So I’m teetotal now.

Taylor has also started picking up his darts again in retirement and is enjoying spending time on the board with his grandson.
He added: “I’ve started practising again now. I’m only doing an hour a day. I’ll start stepping it up a little bit later, probably an hour and a half.
“I’m enjoying it. It’s good. When my grandson comes up. He was a decent player, young Nathan.
“He’s not bad, he could play county.”

“Only two or three. But I will get there because I’ll make sure I’ll get there.”
But Taylor was quick to rule out a comeback and pointed to the huge challenge of rebuilding a ranking from scratch.
He said: “No, I couldn’t be on the circuit.
“Like Adrian Lewis has dropped off the circuit. Just to get into the top 32 would take him two years.”
