INTENSE thunderstorms are set to sweep across the UK with the Met Office warning of incoming flash floods, lightning and hail.
A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued across a large part of England with disruption to travel likely to follow.

The East Midlands, East of England and London and South East England are all covered by the warning.
A band of heavy rain and thunderstorms is expected to move northwards this morning before slackening slightly.

But there is a chance of further showers and thunderstorms breaking out again during the afternoon, the Met Office said.

Brits have been warned to expect some travel disruption as the storm rolls over the country.
Network Rail has instructed passengers to check ahead of travelling today with delays to its services likely.
Some 40-50mm of rainfall is expected in parts of the UK which is likely to lead to surface water building and poses a risk of flooding.
The Met Office said, large hail and frequent lightning are also possible throughout the day.
Rainfall will drift northwards and ease during the evening with the thunderstorm likely to subside tonight.
