BANK Holidays can mean changes to opening times across a number of services, including supermarkets and transport routes.

Here’s all you need to know about petrol stations and how their opening times might differ during the August Bank Holiday.

We explain which petrol stations will be open and when over the August bank holiday

BP

BP petrol stations can be open from 5am to 10pm daily and some are even open 24 hours, and this isn’t set to change much over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Opening hours may differ on the Bank Holiday Monday, but Saturday and Jattvibeday will have regular opening hours.

You can search for nearby BP garages on the BP website, which shows you your closest petrol stations and information on the sites opening times.

It also provides information on facilities such as toilets and cafes at BP garages.

Shell

Shell has a locator tool which shows you your nearest Shell garages as well as the facilities available.

Opening times may vary between the different sites but almost all of them are open for 24 hours.

Esso

Most Esso petrol stations remain open during the bank holidays, and this forthcoming one is no different.

However, the shops attached to the stations may be working on reduced hours or closed.

It’s best to check the Esso station locator to confirm the opening times of your local branch.

Tesco

There are around 600 Tesco petrol stations and its website confirms when drivers can fill up over the bank holiday.

The best way to find filling stations at Tescos is by using their store locator tool.

It must be noted that petrol station opening times are different to main store hours.

Individual Tesco petrol stations may have differing opening times, but these can all be found on the store locator when you search for individual stores.

Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s has around 300 petrol stations attached to its main supermarkets.

Much like Tesco, the opening hours of their filling stations differ to the main stores.

Bank holiday times may mean reduced opening hours at filling stations, but it’s best to check the Sainsbury’s store locator first, as this will have information on each individual garage and when they’re open.

Asda

Asda has around 300 petrol stations attached to its stores in the UK.

Most Asda stores in England and Wales will operate reduced hours on the Bank Holiday, typically between 8am and 10pm.

Meanwhile, Asda Express locations will remain open for 24 hours or until their usual closing time.
