Former Union MoS and senior BJP leader Vijay Sampla on Tuesday said that despite an FIR being registered against Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, the state government had failed to take any concrete action over the past 11 months.Sampla said that during the Tarn Taran byelection, Raja Warring had allegedly used derogatory and hateful language against senior Dalit Congress leader and former Union minister Buta Singh. An FIR was registered in Kapurthala on November 4, 2025, in connection with the matter, but the investigation and subsequent action have not progressed. He said that on May 5, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) had directed the authorities to arrest Raja Warring and submit an Action Taken Report (ATR). However, no action was taken despite the Commission’s directions. The matter also reached the high court, where the Punjab Government sought three months’ time. Although that period is now almost over, no action has been taken.Sampla said that NCSC has once again issued strict directions for Raja Warring’s arrest and directed that the chargesheet be presented before the court at the earliest. He said that the prolonged inaction raised questions about a possible nexus or tacit understanding between the Congress and Punjab Government. He added that the Scheduled Caste (SC) community was suffering the most as a result of such inaction.Sampla said that the government had made major promises to the SC community regarding Shagun Scheme, scholarships and financial assistance, but people continued to face difficulties on the ground. Referring to scholarship facilities provided by the Central government, he said that the Punjab Government should also ensure that students receive the benefits of such schemes on time.Sampla said that Buta Singh had devoted his entire life to the Congress and that his family deserved justice. He demanded that the Punjab Government comply with the directions of the SC commission, immediately initiate legal action, arrest Raja Warring and ensure that the chargesheet is presented before the court at the earliest.
