The US president wrote on Truth Social: “Now that we have it under U.S.A. control, should we change the name Hormuz Strait to TRUMP STRAIT???”

Attacks by Iran on tankers in the strategic waterway continue but commercial traffic is slipping through the strait at a much reduced rate.
It comes after the US president attempted to rename Lake Ontario as Lake America and the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America.

The US last night blasted targets across Iran as the conflict reignites after weeks of relative calm.
Trump said the attacks were revenge for Iranian attacks on the shipping lane.
The US president had threatened “much harder and higher” attacks if the regime retaliated.
Americans deployed over a dozen ballistic missiles at Iran, targeting its radar systems and military assets along the coastline.
The regime’s foreign ministry spokesperson claimed US attacks had killed five people at a wedding in Sirik, claiming the strike was a “war crime“.
Tehran vowed revenge, branding the US “Great Satan”.
It targeted two US bases in Jordan as well as firing an onslaught of missiles and drones at the UAE, Bahrain and Iraq.
The US military said it was aware of reports of the deaths in the southern city of Sirik, but that civilians had never been targeted.
US Central Command said strikes on Iran followed “attempted attacks” on ships in the contested Strait of Hormuz.
But Trump warned that the “biggest one” is yet to come.
Reacting to the escalation, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ghalibaf said: “All of America’s actions are an imitation of the devil, and America itself is the great devil.”
The tit-for-tat strikes end a months-long stalemate since July in which both sides have mostly held fire – but showed no appetite for ceasefire talks.
Trump said he would not force Iran back to the bargaining table.
“I couldn’t care less if they sign a worthless, to them, agreement,” he wrote on social media.
“I like our position now much better, with almost total control of the Hormuz Strait, and their economy totally collapsing.
“They are just playing out the inevitable. When are the Iranian people going to rise up and fight?”
