FIORENTINA have sacked manager Fabio Grosso after just THREE league games.
The 48-year-old, who scored the winning penalty for Italy in the 2006 World Cup final shootout, was only appointed in June.

And club bosses backed him by splashing out on a raft of new signings – including Beto from Everton, Wilfried Gnonto from Leeds, Radu Dragusin from Tottenham and Franco Mastantuono from Real Madrid.
But the new-look group failed to gel under Grosso, who oversaw a dire start to the campaign.

The Tuscan club were smashed 4-0 by Roma and then trounced 3-0 at home by newly-promoted Frosinone.
Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Torino was Grosso’s final act as Fiorentina chiefs swung the axe with the club sitting rock-bottom of Serie A.

The news was confirmed via an eye-catchingly blunt statement, which read: “ACF Fiorentina announces that Fabio Grosso has been relieved, effective today, of his duties as coach of the men’s First Team.”
Rumours of tension between Grosso and sporting director Fabio Paratici – formerly of Tottenham – are also believed to have contributed to the rapid dismissal.
Fiorentina are now in the process of reappointing Paolo Vanoli, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Vanoli, 54, signed a short-term deal in November 2025 and left the Viola at the end of last season.

But he is set to get another crack after leading them to a 15th-place finish.
Grosso had spells at Frosinone, Lyon and Sassuolo prior to taking the Fiorentina job.
