AIDAN and Joseph O’Brien’s intense father-son rivalry heated up just that little bit more on Monday when the latest St Leger confirmations dropped.

Some £700,000 will be on the line when the season’s final Classic is run at Doncaster on Saturday, with £400,000 going to the winner.

Derby winner Christmas Day will be the Ballydoyle No1 in the St Leger – which will pit the might of Aidan O’Brien against son Joseph Credit: PA

And between them, the O’Briens account for more than half the remaining 12 runners.

Derby hero Christmas Day will lead the line for Ballydoyle boss Aidan, who also kept Action, Piazza San Marco, Pierre Bonnard and Amelia Earhart in.

While Joseph confirmed Royal Ascot scorer Enceladus and the intriguing Highwayman, whose price has plummeted.

The only other trainers set to have runners are Andrew Balding, who confirmed Hatteen and Galiyan, Karl Burke who has Golden Story and Faye Bramley with Rebel Rocker.

Charlie Appleby pulled Del Maro, Harry Eustace did not confirm Zia Zabel and Aidan scratched Port of Spain and Montreal.
