For now, they are “not drawing any conclusions about what happened for the time being”, officials added.
Hundreds of tourists swarm to Cholón during weekends and peak periods – clogging the waters with boats, jet skis and other watercrafts.
The bustling waters have led to some tragic accidents – with one many losing his life two years ago.
Italina national Nicholas Cudini, 26, was killed in December 2024 after two boats crashed together in Cholón .
Nicholas competed in the highest levels of US college football – playing for the Santa Clara University team.
His body was discovered by the coast guard after nearly 24 hours after the fatal collision.
Earlier this year a heroic Brit sailor saved the lives of an antire boatload of people after the vessel was sunk “titanic-style” off the coast of Columbia.
The boat had allegedly been slammed by “pirates” in the Caribbean.
Christian Powys-Keck, 33, immediately dashed below deck to alert passengers and crew as the holed yacht filled with water.
The bare-chested Brit and desperate survivors were left clinging to a holed life raft and debris for 20 minutes in darkness.
But all were rescued and were safe on land in Colombia last night as their hero was dubbed “Fletcher Christian” – after the crew’s saviour from Mutiny on the Bounty.
