A WOMAN has tragically drowned after her car was trapped in water following violent storms across Italy.
Her car got stuck in a flooded underpass in Latisana after severe weather on Thursday.

A brave Carabinieri officer dived into the water, attempting to rescue her but sadly it was too late and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The policeman was taken to hospital for treatment following his courageous actions.

The entire region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, where Latisana is located, experienced flooding and suffered severe disruption to train services.
Ferocious tempests caused the Tagliamento River to overflow, with several flooded homes reported in multiple towns along the banks.

It comes as wild storms raged across Italy this week causing widespread chaos.
On Thursday morning, firefighters in nearby Venice rushed to rescue a pregnant woman trapped inside her car.
It was merely one of 140 intervention requests received by the city’s fire brigade.
Further south in Italy, Tuscany recorded more than 63,000 lightning strikes in just 12 hours.
Around 45 people were evacuated from their homes in the town of Cataeggio, near Sondrio, after the weather caused a terrifying landslide.
The torrential rain also flooded parts of Brescia’s Civili hospital.

To the east, firefighters in the Adriatic region of Marche received over 100 calls due to damaged buildings and felled trees.
Across the country, emergency services have worked tirelessly across land, air, and water to deal with disruption caused by the extreme weather.
Italy has been battered with particularly aggressive storms and hazardous weather this summer.
On September 4, a towering waterspout tornado in Messina slammed into the beach, sending parasols flying into air and crashing into buildings.

Violent storms also wreaked havoc on several other areas of northern Italy, including Lombardy, Tuscany and the Italian Alps.
The wild storms brought gale-force winds, lightning, flooding, and heavy rain.
On August 21, roads were turned into rivers in Chiavari, Liguria, with cars floating like boats down the streets.
That same day, 250 people were evacuated from a riverside campsite in Bergamo after rock and mud shifted near a river.
In Spain, a woman was killed after being swept away by a flash flood in Felanitx, a rural town in eastern Mallorca.
The 67-year-old is believed to have slipped in a flooded street as torrents of rain tore through the town.
