FORMER Liverpool midfielder James Milner has revealed he is training for a marathon.
The Premier League’s record appearance-holder made the announcement with a simple post on his Instagram this week.

He posted a running video, and attached his incredible stats.
The 40-year-old ran 32.2km in 2 hours and 26 minutes at an average pace of 4:32 minutes per/km.

Milner retired at the end of last season and has made a record 658 Premier League appearances.
He did hint at this new venture of his a few months ago.

Speaking after breaking the appearance record, he said: “I wouldn’t say I fear (retirement) because I look forward to having that break and having time to do what I want.
“But I think most people say you miss the structure, what you’re training for every day.
“When you haven’t got that, I think I’d probably look towards doing marathons or something like that to give me something to go for again”
Milner broke Gareth Barry’s PL record of 653 appearances at the end of last campaign, playing for Brighton.

He retired as only one of five outfield players to play in the league at the age of 40.
The Englishman spent 24 seasons in England’s top division and won three Premier League titles and one Champions League during his time with Manchester City and Liverpool.
