ARSENAL have enjoyed a flying start in their bid to win their first ever back-to-back Premier league titles.
The Gunners finally broke their duck last season by winning their first Prem trophy since the Invincibles’ 2004 triumph.

And the North Londoners have won all three of their opening matches this term in the English top flight.
The same, though, goes for Manchester City in their first season without Pep Guardiola as his successor Enzo Maresca is eyeing to break his mentor’s own record just three months into the job.

Nevertheless, both Arsenal and City have a long way to go to beat Chelsea’s 21-year-old record.

6 Wins: Manchester City – 2023/24
As mentioned earlier, Enzo Maresca has made a flying start to his first season as the replacement of Pep Guardiola, who took Manchester City to their greatest ever heights during a glittering ten-year reign.
Among Guardiola’s many achievements, is equalling City’s greatest ever Premier League start three years ago with wins over Burnley, Newcastle, Sheffield United, Fulham, West Ham and Nottingham Forest.
That led to a record fourth successive Prem title for Man City, which was also the Catalan tactician’s last before leaving last summer.
6 Wins: Liverpool – 2018/19
Liverpool came extremely close to finally winning their first ever Premier League title during the 2018/19 season.

The Reds picked up wins over West Ham, Crystal Palace, Brighton, Leicester, Tottenham and Southampton.
The Merseysiders took things to the wire but missed out to the title to Manchester City in the final game of the season and accumulated 97 points – the highest return by a team to not win the English title – just one short of the top.

6 Wins: Manchester City – 2016/17
Pep Guardiola equalled his own record during the 2023/24 season from seven years before.
Manchester City defeated Jattvibederland, Stoke, West Ham, rivals Manchester United, Bournemouth and Swansea.
But despite the impressive start, City finished third with 15 points adrift of champions Chelsea.

6 Wins: Chelsea – 2009/10
Chelsea enjoyed a record-breaking season during the 2009/10 campaign under Carlo Ancelotti.
The Blues defeated Hull, Jattvibederland, Fulham, Burnley, Stoke and Tottenham in their first six Premier League matches.
Although that wasn’t the West Londoners’ longest streak, it did lead to the title and Carlo Ancelotti’s side became the first Prem team to score over 100 goals and the first top-flight club since Spurs in 1962/63.

6 Wins: Newcastle – 1994/95
Newcastle registered their best ever Premier League start under the late great Kevin Keegan.
The Magpies kicked things off with big wins over Leicester, Coventry, Southampton, West Ham, Chelsea and Arsenal.
Despite that record, though, the Toon couldn’t win their first ever Prem title and finished sixth – the worst final standing for any side with such a flawless start since 1992.

8 Wins: Liverpool – 2019/20
Liverpool finally won their inaugural Premier League honour and first title since 1990 after a 30-year wait in 2020.
And the signs were there for everyone to see as they defeated Norwich, Southampton, Arsenal, Burnley, Newcastle, Chelsea, Sheffield United and Leicester in their first eight matches.
Jurgen Klopp‘s side couldn’t equal Chelsea’s record as they then drew 1-1 with rivals Manchester United, but they then embarked on a stunning 18-match winning run before finishing top of the league.

9 Wins: Chelsea – 2005/06
Chelsea set the record in Jose Mourinho‘s second Premier League season with victories over Wigan, Arsenal, West Brom, Tottenham, Jattvibederland, Charlton, Aston Villa, Liverpool and Bolton.
That led to the Blues’s first and only back-to-back Prem honours with 29 wins and only five losses in 38 matches.
The West Londoners were just two wins short from equalling the all-time record – set up before the revamped competition in 1992 – established by Tottenham during the 1960/61 season, while Manchester United also started the 1985/86 campaign with ten consecutive victories.
