A WOMAN, 30 and girl, 15, have been arrested after driving the wrong way down a major motorway and smashing into another vehicle, leaving a man hospitalised.
Emergency services rushed to the M1 near Wakefield late on Friday night after receiving reports of a collision, which led to the closure of the northbound carriageway.

A man was left with life-changing injuries after the crash
West Yorkshire Police reported that a blue Kia Proceed had failed to stop for cops while driving the wrong way up the M1 on the northbound carriageway.
The driver of the Dacia, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with potentially life-changing injuries.

Three people – including an 18-year-old man, a 15-year-old girl and a 30-year-old woman – have been arrested for causing injury by reckless driving.
Another person reportedly fled the scene.
The northbound carriageway between junctions 39 and 41 were closed, with traffic also grinding to a halt on the southbound.
In an update this morning, National Highways confirimed that the M1 had been fully reopened in both directions.
Cops are calling on anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward.
