SAFFIE OSBORNE was moved to tears as she became the first female jockey to win a British Classic at Doncaster.
She rode 11-1 shot Highwayman to a stunning two-and-a-half length success in the 250th running of the St Leger in a ‘life-changing’ result.

Osborne, 24, who only got the call up to ride the Joseph O’Brien-trained colt on Tuesday, celebrated wildly as she crossed the line ahead of Enceladus – who gave the trainer a famous one-two.
She said: “I’m in shock – I just burst into tears.

“I half felt Billy Loughnane come to my girths on Enceladus and this horse just went away again. It’s incredible.
“I woke up this morning and had a really good feeling about today.
“I didn’t have that on my bingo card at the start of the week, I didn’t even have a ride at the start of the week. I only found out on Tuesday when I checked my booked rides and saw I was on him.
“And when I saw it was the 250th year, I thought surely there has to be a good story this year? I thought a girl winning would be quite a good story.
“This is the sort of thing that changes your life, no-one can ever take it away from you. I’ve never met that horse before today, but I’ll love him forever.”
